Spiti Irinis

The plot was long and narrow, which usually produces a dark corridor of a house. Instead we opened a double-height courtyard two thirds of the way back, so every habitable room borders either the street facade or the court. The result needs almost no artificial light during the day and stays several degrees cooler than the surrounding houses. Exposed board-formed concrete on the street elevation was cast in a single pour to avoid a cold joint at eye level.
